Controversial Thoughts on Recent Controversies: 5 of 5

The winner in this battle is Satan.

Satan rejoices when Godly men fall.

Why does Satan rejoice greatly when Godly men fall?

Because non-Christians use the (inevitable) sin of Christians as an excuse. The sin of one Christian becomes the sin of all Christians in the eyes of onlookers. Matthew 5:16 says, "In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."

The greatest tragedy hear is not the disgrace of a man, the disgrace of a ministry, or even the heartache of many abused ladies. The greatest tragedy here is the many non-Christians who will judge the merits of Christianity by the faults of one man.

As Christians we are sinners, but we are held to God's high standard. The perfect standard. If non-believers see Christians acting in and of this world-- acting no differently than them, we have no hope of reaching the lost.

Christian leaders today often leave righteousness out of the discussion. "Follow Jesus" "Following the law is legalism" they say. Yes, following the Law as a means of Salvation is legalism. But following God's perfect standard as reflected in the Law is walking in righteousness. And when we walk out of righteousness, non-believers take note.
